Our amazing massage therapist is Laura Scheer. She owes her love of massage to her late grandmother, who lived with Laura and her family until her death in 2002. Every day after school Laura would provide a back rub to help relax and relieve her grandmother's pain. Laura's desire to practice quickly spread to other family members and friends. At 14, Laura began receiving massage treatments and, at 16, began visiting a chiropractor for scoliosis.
After graduating from Walton High School, she studied English and Professional Communications with Business at Southern Polytechnic State University, before leaving to pursue her lifelong passion for massage therapy. Laura went to ASHA School of Massage, graduated top of her class in 2009, and is certified in Neuromuscular, Clinical Sports, and Therapeutic Swedish Massage. She has since studied further techniques in both rehabilitation and structural alignment; along with Prenatal, Infant, and Juvenile Massage, and the Myokinesthetic System. Laura is licensed, fully insured by Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, and holds the highest standard of ethics.
Throughout her career Laura has worked with chiropractors, at special events, in spa and clinical settings. She can use a wide range of techniques and pressures to best suit each client's needs, from relaxation to stretching connective tissue and elongating muscle fibers. Laura also utilizes ice and heat treatments to expedite healing. Laura loves to educate her clients with home treatments and stretches, to bolster and maintain therapeutic benefits between sessions.
When Laura is not at work, she spends time with her husband, Drew, and two young sons. Her hobbies include visiting with family and friends, camping/glamping, hiking, Qi Gong, reading, painting, attempting to garden, and spending time near moving waters.
